These Terms & Conditions apply to the use of Meyer Online and the services made available through it.
1. About Meyer Online
Meyer Online provides access to specialist information services, online resources and related business services.
Certain services available through Meyer Online are operated by The African Diamond Trading and Exploration Company (Pty) Ltd (“ADTEC”), South Africa.
By using this website or any service made available through it, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
2. ADTEC Rough Diamond Pricing Information
ADTEC provides specialist rough-diamond pricing and valuation information, including information relating to individual stones, groups of stones and other diamond-pricing resources.
Prices, valuations, calculations and other information supplied by ADTEC are intended as guideline information only. They do not constitute an offer to purchase or sell a diamond, a guaranteed market price, or professional advice concerning a particular transaction.
Diamond values may be affected by factors that cannot necessarily be determined from information supplied by a user. Users remain responsible for applying their own professional judgement before entering into any transaction.
3. ADTEC WhatsApp Pricing and Valuation Service
ADTEC operates an automated pricing and valuation information service through WhatsApp, in addition to a downloadable PDF price list available only to members.
Users may submit specified diamond characteristics through the chatbot service and receive guideline pricing or valuation information generated using ADTEC's pricing data and calculation methods.
The WhatsApp service is an information and valuation service only.
ADTEC does not use the WhatsApp service to:
- buy or sell diamonds;
- offer diamonds for sale;
- broker diamond transactions;
- arrange transactions between buyers and sellers;
- transfer ownership of diamonds; or
- process payment for the purchase or sale of diamonds.
Use of the WhatsApp service therefore does not create a purchase, sale, brokerage or agency relationship between ADTEC and the user.
4. Information Supplied by Users
Pricing and valuation results depend upon the information supplied by the user.
Users are responsible for ensuring that diamond characteristics and other information submitted to the service are accurate and correctly selected.
ADTEC cannot guarantee the accuracy of a pricing or valuation result where information supplied by a user is incorrect, incomplete or incorrectly selected.
5. Guideline Valuations
Pricing and valuation information generated or published by ADTEC is provided as a guideline.
Actual transaction prices may differ as a result of market conditions, international geopolitical influences, lab-grown diamond market share, current mining challenges and other commercial factors.
ADTEC does not guarantee that a diamond can be purchased or sold at a price generated or published by its services.
6. Accounts, Credits and Paid Services
Some ADTEC services may require registration, membership, payment or the availability of service credits.
7. Service Availability
Meyer Online and ADTEC aim to keep their online services available and functioning correctly but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
Services may occasionally be affected by maintenance, communications failures, internet connectivity, technical problems or the availability of third-party platforms and services.
8. Third-Party Platforms
Certain services may be delivered using third-party platforms, including WhatsApp.
Use of those platforms may also be subject to the terms, policies and privacy practices of the relevant platform provider.
9. Intellectual Property
ADTEC's pricing information, valuation methodologies, databases, publications and other proprietary material, together with applicable Meyer Online website content, remain the intellectual property of their respective owners.
Such material may not be reproduced, redistributed, republished or commercially exploited without permission, except where its use has expressly been authorised as part of a service provided to the user.
10. Limitation of Liability
Users remain responsible for their own commercial and professional decisions.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Meyer Online and ADTEC accept no responsibility for losses arising from reliance upon guideline pricing or valuation information, inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by a user, changes in market conditions, or decisions made on the basis of information supplied through the services.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
11. Privacy
Personal information is handled in accordance with the Meyer Online Privacy Policy.
Information submitted through the ADTEC WhatsApp pricing and valuation service is used for providing and administering the requested service as described in that Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
These Terms & Conditions may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to our services, operating requirements or applicable law.
The version published on this website is the current version.
13. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
